Dear Kendal Grace

From the moment you joined our family, one year ago, you have been sweeter than sugar! What a dream baby you were: always content, except for when you were hungry or tired, a great eater from the get-go, and a good sleeper. But now, so soon, those baby days have past, and your personality has magnified- you're even sweeter than before, if that is possible.

You have adored your sister since the day you met her. When you were really little, she was the only one who could get you to smile every single time, without fail! You love to follow her around and try to keep up with everything she is doing. How perfect, because she equally adores you. "Amaya" was one of your first words, and I could hardly believe it when I heard you say it clear as a bell.

You're a big fan of daddy. You love rough housing with him, although that took some conditioning. Now you can't get enough of it, and run back for more until he is too exhausted to continue.

But you are a mama's girl through and through! I'd be lying if I said it didn't warm my heart a little that you jump into my arms at any given opportunity. It is so endearing to see your face light up when I enter the room.

You are a tender little soul. You give the best kisses anyone could ever ask for- big open mouthers. You are a snugly girl too. It is one of our favorite things about you that we can kiss on you endlessly without you ever getting annoyed, and that you lean into our loving, as if asking for more.

You do have a little spit fire too. When you get mad, you get mad! There is no in between with you. But your anger always has a reason, and once your need is met, you're back to the happy-go-lucky girl we know. I'm actually glad to see a little ferocity in you. A mother is always relieved to know that her child can hold her own.

Where has the time gone? Already, you are looking more and more like a little girl, especially since you are now walking! And your endless babbling sounds more and more like real talking. Not to mention the real words you do use! It seems like yesterday we had just delivered you, and yet, it seems you've been a part of our family forever. It wouldn't feel complete without you.

Although our one-on-one moments have been less frequent than I wish, they have been cherished, and will be forever. You are an angel, and will always have a special place in my heart.

You have been a busy girl...

I feel like I was at the party and the girls will know all the details. You are a sweet mom to those babes. Kendal is beautiful and I see some Joe in her - I used to think she looked exactly like you, but in some of those pictures there is a lot of Joe!

Happy Birthday Kendal girl.

You look darling in that picture with her by the way and I love your letters.

Wow, I love all the pics and your thoughts! You seem like such an awesome momma Hillary. Your girls are blessed to have you. I hope we can actually meet someday and have our girls play together! I love the picture of Joe licking the icing off of Kendal's finger too, so stinkin' sweet.

You "planned" your pregnancys just like we did. We have Oct. 5 & 7 - you even have us beat. Planning.. or deciding to start "trying" at the beginning of the year..right? Happy Birthday to both! You are better than me.. they each get their own birthday - we combine ours.

She's got the sweetest face, I think I've ever seen. Loved what you said once again. So well put. I bet your kind of glad to have the parties over! A lot of work, but so fun!

Really I don't make it out of the house that often. Honestly, it's a miracle if I get ready before the hubs gets home- I consider changing out of my pj's OR doing my hair a productive day. The craft I managed to do because it was the weekend and daddy was the designated babysitter. If I do manage other things during the week then you can bet your boots my apt. is a mess. :0)
